If you ever visit Nick's you will immediately understand how much this job means to these wonderful young men and women. They are the best and most loyal workers you will ever encounter. They just needed a safe and enriching environment to work in, one that a food trailer can provide. The best thing to see is the confidence that these workers have gained and to see that they relish that they are productive members of society.
Nick's ensures that they are rewarded for that loyalty too as they make well over minimum wage. It is important that the expectations are the same for them as it would be for anybody and that they are treated equally.
Nick's is only able to stay open for a little more than half the year due to the seasonal nature of selling shaved ice from a trailer. Expenses such as truck, trailer, and business insurance, storage of the trailer in a shop building, website fees, accounting fees, and licensing fees are paid year-round.
Our revenue is good but it is only generated during a 7 month period. As a result, Nick's operates at a deficit. The average yearly deficit is approximately $5,000.
This is the reason we are a non-profit organization. We need the generosity of donors/supporters to help us keep providing jobs for these deserving young people.

Nick's has come so far from an idea in 1997 to a place that has changed lives. Check us out.
